I have had a quilt-in-my-heart for my dear forever-friend, Colette, for a long, long time. But all the other deadline quilts kept me from getting to it. Well, she sure created a deadline for me this month... surgery. It seems to becoming a reoccurring pattern: a girlfriend who announces her surgery and I immediately go into action; absolutely determined they recover in a cuddle quilt. Much like Judi's quilt from her surgery a couple years ago, these quilts have countless stitches representing the prayers I say while my dear ones are dealing with their medical procedures. I find that the quilting helps my nervous energy as I think about them and pray for their recovery. I just love seeing them smile when they get their surprise quilt, just as Colette did on Wednesday when I surprised her with it. A quilt is a hug...

My beautiful, smart, amazingly talented goddaughter, Sarah, is graduating from high school. I just continue to be amazed at how how fast they all grow up. She told me she was hoping for a graduation quilt with purples and blues. I hope she likes it!
