170 Melanie's Cheery Floral Quilt

I'm hitting my goal... 3 quilts for my Portland family:  Pat, Mel and Elizabeth.  The only notation is that I had this goal for Christmas of 2014.  Oh well, Christmas of 2015 came fast enough.  I'm sure my niece and sister-in-laws won't notice the difference.

I know Mel is going to love the bright cheery floral fabric.  I'm even quilting floral stitching into the quilt pattern :)

My trick for making my deadline... the floral fabric looks pieced but isn't.

169 Emily's CHRISTMASSY Christmas Quilt

I have an irresistible Dilly.  She got so excited when I mentioned the possibility of a Christmas quilt.  In October she sent me a cute text "The Harvest Quilt is officially out!" with a picture of the ugly fall quilt (#100, Nov 2013) I rejected.  A year ago, she'd latched on to that ugly quilt, and said, "No quilt is ugly!  This will be great for my seasonal theme!"  I mentioned I should probably get a Christmas quilt going so that she has something to put out during that season.  Oh my goodness, she texted back all the various holiday emoticons and said someday she hopes to have one for every holiday.  Ha ha ha.

Well, here you go, Em... does this get you started?  Your CHRISTMASSY Christmas quilt.

Emily's will be done before my Christmas quilt (background), but that is how things usually go... since mine was actually supposed to be complete last year ;)

We LOVED the Christmas Scotty Dogs!

pieced backs are always fun

168 Sally's "Birds in Flight" Quilt for her friend

Once again, a quilt for someone in need, made out of love and compassion.  Sally's friend is always feeling chilly.  She is battling cancer and Sally made this cheerful quilt with a cozy flannel backing.  Every stitch brings hopes and prayers for her friend.  May it bring her cozy, warm comfort.

Good job Sally!  You're quilting is fabulous.  And my Dad thinks so too ;)

167 A Quilt for Elizabeth

Here is a bright and cheery quilt for my wonderful niece Elizabeth.  She is truly a gem and I love her to the moon and back.

The squares were created by Emily, but she didn't like it, so I took it over and added the sashing and ended up loving it!

one of my all time favorite backings
